Bujinkan Theme of 2009?

Well, Hatsumi Soke has chosen the theme for the year of 2009. The theme will be “ING”. As is runnING, fightING, talkING. What do you think about next year’s theme and how do you interpret it? What ryuha do you think will be focused on the most this year? I prefer my fellow Budoka’s answers but all are welcome to share their opinions.
My interpretation:
What do we know about “ING”? It’s a suffix that makes a verb present tense. So, this year’s theme is about living and acting in the present (ING). I believe it will be more on the principal of not thinking about what you’ve done or you’re going to do, but what you’re doing in the present. You can’t change the past and you can’t control the future except through your actions in the present. This can be applied to, not only to martial arts, but to everyday life.
Note: The running, talking, and fighting were only examples to explain “ING”. They have nothing to do with the theme. They were examples and nothing more.
im meditatING on kuji kiri, and selfimprovING…..hey , i like that.i think “09″ will be year of the clown dragon.
Hmmm depending on the severity of the situation.
Talking first
Running second if allowed by your aggressor.
Third if no option then take them off the planet by any means possible.
Sorry if this sounds crude/basic and obvious.
I’m all for peace to all men so to speak but personal survival comes first.
Best wishes

There’s been a lot of debate going on in mailing lists over “-ing”… Yes, we’re pretty much all under the assumption that it is as a suffix (though this seems to be largely guesswork), but to really know (just like every year) what it means, we’ll have to wait until the first part of January.
The trickle-down I’ve been getting is that next year will be an extension of this year, with more of a focus on the internal than the external that we covered this year.
Frankly, I have no idea what Soke means, and guessing at it may just lead me in the wrong direction. The way I’m looking at it right now? Keep go-ing. That’s the only -ing I’m concerned with.
If, for some bloody miraculous reason that happens to be what Soke is actually talking about, then likely the focus will be on the ninpo schools (the idea of Nin [shino(bu)], or enduring); maybe Shinden Fudo with it’s lazy, fighting with the last ounce of energy type of approach; or maybe rehashing some of the Kuki feeling — the idea of fighting with the strength of 9 demons, or essentially becoming the 10th. Honestly, all have pieces that could easily be interpreted as having that feeling.
Then again, the past, present, and future could well play a part — living in the present by focusing on the here and now. The interesting thing about that is, if that were what he’s teaching on the outward face, look for the inner face teaching strategy.
Whatever the case, it will be a good year, just like all the others.
it all depends is he a republican like you, because then it could a bunch of …. lol
interesting theme it could be many things. there is a long list
meditating, defending, focusing, attacking, throwing, breaking, grappling. you can break them down into a lot of sub groups.
you may not what to think to much into it. and just wait and see where he is going with it.
I felt like you’ve already answered my answer, if that makes any sense
.
To me the -”ing” represents not the past, present, or future–but now. We tend to forget that if we look upon the horizon or look behind our shoulder or even continue forward in the present, then we are living in this sense of time. It’s probably a confusing philosophy but I always live in the now–therefore the “-ing” is all of my past, present, and future.
-Cheers.
It probably doesnèt mean sparrING
