Dude, this could be used to apply to street fights when you get attacked by, say, a thug with a crowbar, a baseball bat, a pole, etc etc. Not to mention in England there are big restrictions on katanas, because so many people have been killed by them in gang wars.
Anyway, it enhances reflexes and stuff too.

blood is heavier than water… it will be flicked off from a well oiled blade, that is why it still exist as one of the oldest techniques, because it actually worked for swordsmen from the fuedal times of japan, dumbass…
You can do it with water but not with actual blood.
